Jasco Games (Streetfighter: The Miniatures Game, UFS) continues their domination of the PvP fighting game genre with yet another elder stateman of arcade fighting games. It’s another video game adaptation, but this one has a slightly longer pedigree. The Imperial Machines of the capital must work in an uneasy, asymmetric alliance with their human subjects to defend the city from invaders while the humans attempt to escape the city and the iron rule of their machine masters. But new, strange machines have begun to boil out of Edinburgh and are laying siege to Clockwork City. In this version of the Victorian age, steam-powered machines have developed consciousness and taken control of London, renaming it Clockwork City. Alley Cat Games, using the alternate 19th world created by artist Nicholas Maxson-Francombe, hopes to join the ranks of these art-inspired greats in 2023 with their tower defense game, Welded Iron. Scythe was inspired by the art of Jakub Różalski, Vaesen by Johan Egerkrans, and more recently Nightmare Cathedral which drew on the work of Zdzisław Beksiński. Welded IronĪrt is often meant to inspire, and that has definitely been true in the game world. But what about those famous dropkicks? Or the ever-present infection meter, requiring UV exposure to prevent you from becoming a zombie yourself? Even if you’ve never played the video game, this is worth keeping an eye on. The parkour and zombies seem like a no-brainer. The designers at Glass Cannon have proved themselves masters of translating video games into board games, and it will be interesting to see which hallmarks of Dying Light will make the cut and how they’ll pull it off. So when Glass Cannon Unplugged (Frostpunk) announced this past February that they were working on a board game version of Dying Light, video gamers and tabletoppers alike were buzzing. Parkour, zombies, and sick melee combat? The appeal is pretty obvious. The Dying Light video game franchise has no shortage of fans, and it’s easy to see why. This list was updated in November to better reflect the upcoming games. Already, 2023 is looking promising, and here’s the proof.Ĭheck out these games, brought to you from…The Future! Expect coverage of those soon, but it never hurts to be farsighted as well. Some of you may have noticed that the next few months are stuffed to the gills with amazing looking new games.
